I know people say cats purr when they are happy but my cat does it 97% of the time. If I pet her she starts purring, if just walk past her she stops, looks at me and starts purring. If I look at her she stops what she is doing and starts purring. Even when she is sleeping she is purring for a little bit, it is weird.

I have one who whines to announce himself and one that makes an "ak ak" noise.... the purr will win every time.

The whiskers touch the sides of the "squeeze" and through those they can sense the size of the space and whether their body can maneuver safely in that size opening. It's a safety thing.

Okay im confused with the new rascal flatts video for here comes goodbye.. .I LOVE the song and i watched the video and i can't quite understand it. im thinking the video is of a woman who's father has just passed, but she also has a son that passed away on her and in the end she asks him to take care of her son?.. idk just some insight from everyone
The video is a continuation of the "What Hurts the Most" video. It is the same family. When the boyfriend died in "whtm" the girlfriend was pregnant. She later had the little boy who passed away. Then she lost her father and her little boy came to get him.
Seems to me that the Mother is actually telling the "story" about her daughter. The daughters son has already passed. At thehere rascal flatts video beginning of the video when the man is talking he mentions putting a toy truck at the grave site. Now her dad has passed and it was obviously not an easy loss for her, but now she is ready to say goodbye. Hope this helps. And I don't know about you, but I LOVE Rascal Flatts!!!!

When her father passed away, she new he would protect and be with her son as he was her protector.(You can see in the video she remembers her father as her protector) Now that her father has passed she can say goodbye to her son! I used to NEVER be able to get an even line when doing liquid liner, so I found this is a great trick.
Once you do your best at getting it as close to your lash line as you can- don't worry too much about being sloppy, so long as you get it solid all the way across.

So a word like "famine" or "The sale" or Mom's go crazy"
The point is that they havgroup activities schoole to create each one in silence...no talking...they just reate the scene as a group...some kids will interact with one another others will do their own thing. After the first you do another and another and they warm up....each one is then judged.

why is taylor swift sickWhy is Taylor Swift so darn popular?
I love the opinions of the members of Y! answers, especially those in the country music category. So I would like your opinions on why Taylor Swift is so popular. Question brought on by the fact that on my way to and from work last night and this morning the same song was playing on the radio back to back on two different stations, I get home and the video for Love Story is on CMT and all the Taylor Swift questions on Y! Answers. And before I get a bunch of Taylor fans calling me a "hater", I don't hate her, but I do think she's just okay and I don't understand the popularity. And I'm also getting a little sick of every time I turn around hearing or seeing Taylor Swift. Is any one else out there with me? All opinions are appreciated. Thanks.
Well, I wouldn't say I'm a hater in the sense of hating her personally but, I do think she's limited to her audience as the younger crowd digs her. I think there's far too much hype on her ability as a singer. She appeals to the younger country generation. For us older folks she's more of a novelty act and she won't be a long hauler in this genre. She's not that great and every performance of her live has been awful. Anybody can sound great in the studio or on radio as they can adjust the pitching and such. Videos are lip syncing so, that's just my opinion. Her record sales, concert sales, radio play due to requests are from the bulk of the cd sales which is the younger generation in general. 12-20 yrs. old plus the ipods and the downloads off the sites that offer that service. I hope that helped answer it yes her awards due in part with the above mentioned. She'll eventually fade away... Too much hype on a mediocre singer.

I've been trying to figure this out for awhile now. She is not talented at all, but for some reasowhy is taylor swift sickn everyone loves her. She can't sing live at all, she sounds like a small child when she sings in studio, her songs are all about the same things and are poorly written, and she's not even that pretty. She doesn't seem like a very good person, either. She acts really phony and stuck up. Plus, she's not the least bit country, so I don't know why she gets played on country stations. I guess she's so popular because fans like who they are told to like. They were told by the media that Taylor Swift is good, so they like her.
Taylor has a good voice and she writes her own music, all from her own personal experiences. She also not afraid to speak out about ex-boyfriends and use their names in her songs. She relates well to her fans, and updates her myspace personally to connect to her fans. She's got a good sense of humor and she seems really down to earth. She's also really humble about her stardom.
Personally, I believe the reason why she is so popular is because she is such a great song writer. Being a song writer myself, I look for good talent such as hers, and who ever picked up her up and put her on their label did a great thing by doing so. Her looks are in her favor too, but I believe her song writing is essential in her success.

Because Nashville will take anything that will sell. Taylor Swift happened to be passing through right when Nashville needed another pretty face. That's what she is, a pop singer who will be done in a few years. As soon as her looks start to fade and her fans grow up there will be someone else just like her trying to get a record deal. There will be a new generation and Nashville will need someone new to sell.

Just watch how many questions start "In the video, they .......". Obviously this hurts people with genuinely great songwriting abilities that may be "too old" for the young'uns. Also, those older artists tend to incorporate more of the strictly country instrumentation (steel guitar, banjo) that the younger listeners, coming out of a rock and roll background, don't like so well.
I like a couple of her songs but I'd never call her country and I'd never say she's a "great artist".
Well, I wouldn't say I'm a hater in the sense of hating her personally but, I do think she's limited to her audience as the younger crowd digs her. I think there's far too much hype on her ability as a singer. She appeals to the younger country generation. For us older folks she's more of a novelty act and she won't be a long hauler in this genre. She's not that great and every performance of her live has been awful. Anybody can sound great in the studio or on radio as they can adjust the pitching and such. Videos are lip syncing so, that's just my opinion. Her record sales, concert sales, radio play due to requests are from the bulk of the cd sales which is the younger generation in general. 12-20 yrs. old plus the ipods and the downloads off the sites that offer that service. I hope that helped answer it yes her awards due in part with the above mentioned. She'll eventually fade away... Too much hype on a mediocre singer.

I've been trying to figure this out for awhile now. She is not talented at all, but for some reasowhy is taylor swift sickn everyone loves her. She can't sing live at all, she sounds like a small child when she sings in studio, her songs are all about the same things and are poorly written, and she's not even that pretty. She doesn't seem like a very good person, either. She acts really phony and stuck up. Plus, she's not the least bit country, so I don't know why she gets played on country stations. I guess she's so popular because fans like who they are told to like. They were told by the media that Taylor Swift is good, so they like her.
Taylor has a good voice and she writes her own music, all from her own personal experiences. She also not afraid to speak out about ex-boyfriends and use their names in her songs. She relates well to her fans, and updates her myspace personally to connect to her fans. She's got a good sense of humor and she seems really down to earth. She's also really humble about her stardom.
Personally, I believe the reason why she is so popular is because she is such a great song writer. Being a song writer myself, I look for good talent such as hers, and who ever picked up her up and put her on their label did a great thing by doing so. Her looks are in her favor too, but I believe her song writing is essential in her success.

I want to become a clothing designer soon and I think it'll be good to know how or why this is, so that I too know when it comes time for me to create a design. I also notice that in some dresses that area looks a little bit harder or stiffer than a regular, lets say, satin or silk dress. Why? Is the fabric rapped around something before its completely sown together? These dresses are built up on a foundation bodice, often made of stiffened cotton that will be draped and fitted directly on the body. This foundation has little to no ease and makes the fchristina hendricks golden globesinished garment very tight. The foundation then has the structure added, heavyweight stiff ribbon (called stays or stay tape) is added around the waist, along the bottom of the rib cage and under the bust,. Vertical boning is added next, in the side seams, side-front and back, under the bust point, anywhere and everywhere the designer feels the dress needs structure. Heavier fabric can be layered over the support structure and more structure can be added again. Between the heavy cotton and this layer is where bra pads and underwires are added to shape and to push up the bosom. Next to the body more tape will be added, this will fasten around the waist very tightly will hooks and eyes. The foundation will be test fitted, if the fit is good then a lining is sewn to the inner part of the foundation, along the bottom. The center back (or left side) is left open for closures and the top edge is left open for attaching the fashion fabric.

Making foundations from stretch fabrics is something that some newer designers do, but many prefer the tradition methods of making a foundation bodices. Either way, they still need plenty of boning and structure.

His jokes about infidelity but then ends it with "im just joking". He is actually a respectable member of the community but not in religious sort of way. What I am saying is that as far as I am concerned he is not some jerk! He is not my husband rather someone else's but he is a man I know from work. At work is where I hear him make these jokes.
NOTE: I am not looking to cheat with him. I just know someone on here is going to play that card. I have always valued myself too much to go that route.
Men often use jokes to subtly covey their secret desires. We use jokes because if our message is interpreted negatively, we can just play it off as a joke rather than something more seriously. Infidelity is not a jcheating man jokesoking matter and the fact this person is joking about infidelity, I say you should pay close attention to what he does because what he claims as a joke may be more than just a joke to him.
What kind of jokes? I mean are they innocent, like, "oh yeah, she's hot. I'd do her" Then does he kinda smirk and giggle like he just knew it would get under someone's skin? Or is it more obscene? That to me is a huge difference. My husband makes jokes like that, the innocent ones, BUT I know he is kidding around b/c I know him and know that he would never cheat.

Well that all depends. If you are talking about partial foregiveness, you forgive the person frankly but leave the relationship and find someone you can have a trusting, loving relationship with. If you are speaking of full, unconditional foregiveness, than you move forward eventually forgetting what happened. Unconditional foregiveness requires a great deal of love and trust, and is only possible if both are willing to put forth at least an equal amount of love, trust and complete forgiveness. Ideally more effort and energy is required from the actual offender for this to work. The victim needs to once again feel, and know that the person will never abuse their trust again. True repentance is required on the part of the offender for unconditional foregiveness to be granted. If the personal is truly repentent, they won't do it again.

This may sound odd, but while your in the process of looking up good recipies, feed your dogs boiled eggs. They like them, and they wont hurt them or anything.
Go to your local meat shop and see if they have any extra parts for cheep you can buy in bulk, slow cook it in a crock pot don't add any extra stuff in it. While it is hot put it in canning jars. For dogs you can add stuff like rice, peas and carrots. For cats canned tuna is fine or any of your meats are good, but cats are strictly carnivores so just feed them meat.

My dog can always find the carrot unless i shred it. add 2 stock cubes cover with water bring to the boil and simmer for about 30 minutes. Dogs of all sizes find this very palatable and most vets will agree this is a suitable meal

NO SPICES. NO $5 to $10 a pound steaks! Hell, cans of SPAM will make a dog extremely happy.
For cats use normal cans of tuna. My cats also liked SPAM and of all things potato chips. I did have one cat that would not eat steak or chicken breast. But he loved potato chips.
Iams dry cat and dog food does not contain any wheat gluton and is safe to eat and is not affected by the recall.

I work for a vet and we DO NOT recommend making your own pet food! It's incredibly difficult to meet a dog's nutritional needs that way. chicken and rice is not a balanced diet!
Just be sensitive to your dog's health and specific needs. I feed human food to my dogs; 1 cannot have ANY grains; 1 needs lower levels of protein. Dogs, Diet and Disease by Caroline Levin provides excellent information and recipes. Good luck!
I have been feeding my dogs Dr. Harvey's canine mix and raw meat or chicken for 9 years. They are doing fantastic. It's very easy to make, just add hot water and let it steep for 10 minutes. Dogs love it. It feels so good to be giving my dogs the best food around! Go for it.

A real republican supports limited government and the ability to have the freedom of personal choice. So why do republicans basically not go for gay marriage and abortion, its an oxymoron. How can you call yourself a republican but say that the government has the right to tell people who can live together and get a tax break or if a woman can get rid of an unborn fetus?
Agreed. I vote republican but like many people I am split on the issue (socially left and fiscally right.) The problem is do I vote for the fiscal policy I want or the social policy? I vote republican for the simple reason that Row Wade for example is a supreme court issue and out of the hands of the President anyways. Also gay marraige is turning out to be a state issue. So basically I have to pick the lesser evil as I see it at the time. What affects me most is the financial stuff and thats what the president actually does control, so I vote based on who I like on that issue.
I hope and pray one day the libertarian party will rise above and take over one of our current options. I would vote libertarian, but don't want to throw my vote away.

I don't know about real or unreal Republicans, but as the mother of a young child I am deeply concerned about the future of our country, and deeply troubled by the hypocrisy contained in the Republican platform, and the fact that at least some portion of American citizens seem comfortable with it.
I don't understand how one can proclaim freedom to own and have guns in homes, but simultaneously seek to take from others the freedom to marry and choose what to do with their own bodies? They seek - with straight face - to amend the Constitution - the foundational document of our liberties - to strip rights away from decent, law abiding citizens. Our Constitution has never been amended to strip freedoms before, and if the Republican Party wishes to advocate such an atrocious action, they should simultaneously change the Pledge of Allegiance, for the nation they seek to create is certainly not one "with liberty and justice for all".

Republicans are against things like abortion and murder and drugs and want to keep them illegal.
Libertarians are for legalizing drugs, prostitution, chaos in the streets and a gun in every household to defend yourself!

I don't know about real or unreal Republicans, but as the mother of a young child I am deeply concerned about the future of our country, and deeply troubled by the hypocrisy contained in the Republican platform, and the fact that at least some portion of American citizens seem comfortable with it.
I don't understand how one can proclaim freedom to own and have guns in homes, but simultaneously seek to take from others the freedom to marry and choose what to do with their own bodies? They seek - with straight face - to amend the Constitution - the foundational document of our liberties - to strip rights away from decent, law abiding citizens. Our Constitution has never been amended to strip freedoms before, and if the Republican Party wishes to advocate such an atrocious action, they should simultaneously change the Pledge of Allegiance, for the nation they seek to create is certainly not one "with liberty and justice for all".
The vocal, conservative wing of the party is comfortable advocating for an absolute ban on abortion, but I see none of them touting how many unwanted, abused and neglected children they have adopted and are supporting, or how much time and money they spend creating social progrrepublicans who support gay marriageams to support low-income families for whom extra children can be an incredible hardship -- where is subsidized daycare, free, convenient parenting classes, strong social services, job programs, safe neighborhood initiatives??
I wish, too, a Republican voter could explain to me what these "family values" are that they so cherish, and which they claim guide their election choices (think Ohio in the 2004 elections -- in exit polls Republican voters frequently cited "family values" as their chief concern in the election, but when asked what "family values" were, frequently could not articulate any). Are intolerance and bigotry family values -- because advocating for anti-gay legislation is nothing if not intolerant. What about environmental stewardship? Isn't protecting, preserving and defending our planet - the only home we have - a family value? If so, why has the Republican administration been woefully and shamefully inadequate at doing anything to promote cleaner energy, less dependence on fossil fuels? Why, in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary, did the Bush adminstration repeatedly deny even the existence of global warming? Why did the Bush administration relax environmental regulations and protections? I've searched and researched, and time and again come up against one conclusion - failure to recognize the global climate crisis and reducing environmental protection measures is in the best interests of big business -- particularly coal and oil. Is enriching your political contributors at the expense of the well-being of every living thing on the planet a family value? How is invading Iraq, and trying to turn us into a nation of cowards a family value? Even the Bush administration now admits that Iraq had nothing to do with 911 (that was the justification for invading Iraq - remember - they were responsible for 911), and that the "intelligence" they presented to Congress to get authorization for the invasion was one-sided and outweighed by other, more credible, evidence. What about building silly fences and barricading off all of the public spaces in Washington that we as tax payers support but now can't set foot in? I don't want to live in a country afraid of everything. It seems to me a family value would have been looking at the real evidence of where Al-quaeda was working, and directing our attention there. Acting in concert with our global partners, not marching around like a global patronizing bully. To make our nation safer we need to restore our standing in the world - by working with other nations for world peace, not by working alone solely for our own best interests. Isn't working together for peace a family value? And I thought the Republicans were the party of fiscal responsibility, yet George Bush entered the White House with a balanced federal budget, and has turned us into a complete debtor nation with the greatest federal budget deficit in history. Isn't it a family value to manage your money, not spend more than you have, not put your children's future financial stability in jeopardy?
I want to raise my child in a tolerant nation, where diversity is celebrated, where every person's unique and particular talent and ability is respected, where there really is "liberty and justice for all" -- not a nation which attempts to bind all by the narrow, intolerant personal religious views of a few. To my mind, personal issues -- like whom to marry and whether or not to have a child -- are personal, not political. And the attempt to politicize such personal things only diminishes us as a nation. I think truly great leaders who have worn the mantle of "republican", like Lincoln and Eisenhower, would be appalled at the initiatives the current Republican party proposes.
